Emotional Alchemy: Welcoming the Parts You Abandoned

A slow return to the pieces you were told were “too much.”

There are parts of you you learned you had to hide.

The sensitive one.
The angry one.
The needy one.
The too-much one.
The part who wanted — deeply.

Not because you were wrong. But because somewhere along the way, you were taught: Love is something you earn by shrinking yourself.

Emotional alchemy is the sacred return of those parts. Not to fix them. But to remember they were never the problem.

✧ 01. Why We Abandon Ourselves

For many women, self-abandonment isn’t a flaw. It’s an adaptation.

We learn:

  • To be pleasant to be accepted

  • To be independent to avoid burdening others

  • To be silent to stay safe

  • To be strong to keep love close

The world praises the version of you that hurts the least to love.

But the cost is high: You lose contact with who you are in exchange for who you’re expected to be.

This is not failure.
It’s survival.

✧ 02. The Parts You Sent Away Are Still Yours

Even in exile, those parts don’t disappear.

They move underground:

  • into the muscle that clenches

  • the throat that tightens

  • the impulse you suppress

  • the emotions you apologize for

The body never betrays what the mind forgets. Your symptoms aren’t problems. They are messengers.

✧ 03. Somatic Truth: Every Part Want is Belonging

Even the parts you judge were always trying to help.

✔ Protect you
✔ Preserve connection
✔ Keep you alive

Your “too much” was once your integrity.
Your “neediness” was your attachment system asking for safety.
Your anger was your boundaries trying to speak.

When you stop exiling these parts…they stop screaming.

✧ 04. The Alchemy Begins With Listening

Emotional alchemy is not:
✗ fixing thoughts
✗ faking peace
✗ forcing positivity

It is:
✔ letting the body speak
✔ witnessing what was once unwitnessed
✔ honoring every emotion as information
✔ offering presence to what was pushed away

We don’t rush healing.
We befriend it.

✧ 05. A Gentle Practice: The Chair of Return

There is a ritual I use with clients when they’re ready to reconnect with the parts of themselves they’ve learned to abandon.

It’s called: The Chair of Return.
A somatic invitation to meet the part of you who still waits to be chosen.

✥ You won’t fix her.
✥ You won’t analyze her.
✥ You’ll just listen.

✧ 06. You Weren’t Meant to Do This Alone

Welcoming yourself back is brave, holy work.

You deserve a space to be held while you:

  • Soften what’s been hardened

  • Feel what’s been numbed

  • Listen to what’s been silenced

  • Reclaim what was once abandoned

You are not too much. You were just never meant to carry this alone.

You can come back to yourself — in pieces, in presence, in whispers.

Sometimes healing sounds like: “Don’t leave me behind again.”
